BRAZIL-If it was good enough for Cnut the Great...

…it should be good enough for Dilma

Cnut the Great, King of the North Sea Empire (Denmark, England, Norway and Part of Sweden) constantly had to deal with the sycophants of his court who kept saying he was so powerful he could hold back the ocean tide.

Fed up with the sucking up, Cnut commanded that his throne be taken to the beach where he sat down and waited for the tide to come in. When it began lapping at his feet he commanded it to recede. As the tide continued to come in he reportedly turned to his audience to tell them that his royal power did not extend to controlling the forces of Nature.

A wise leader knows the limits of his power and Cnut’s wisdom led to his being cited in Medieval history as the most effective Anglo-Saxon king even though he was neither Anglo nor Saxon but rather Danish.

Maybe the administration could learn something from Cnut’s example.

‘Nuff said, I guess.
